Elke McGuire is an artist who was born and raised in Frankfurt, Hamburg and Berlin, Germany. Elke has since lived in Spain, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong and New York but for the past 28 years has made Denver, Colorado her home.
Elke has been a waitress, seamstress, fashion designer, travel consultant and handwork teacher and finally had found her passion in creating her own art. After assisting with several group shows with her mentor, artist Sandra Kaplan, she started working as a curator for 910 Arts gallery in Denver’s Santa Fe Arts District. She enjoyed helping other artists show their work so much that she formed her own company, Art D’Elke, with marketing expert Denise Robert, and began producing art shows and sales in galleries, museums, hospitals, coffee shops and other unlikely venues throughout Colorado and has worked as the Gallery Curator at Art Gym Denver.
In 2019, ready to travel again, she decided to work as Executive Director for Friends of Guéoul, a non profit supporting young female students in Senegal to receive an education.
Her travels inspired her new body of work called “Senegal”, a place where she found the colors that she was using all along.
